SPP Pravin Chavan extortion and fraud case: Pune-based builder reveals he too was demanded ransom

Pune/Jalgaon : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Jalgaon Crime News | The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating the case filed against the then Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Pravin Chavan in the ransom and cheating case. The statement of a builder from Pune has been recorded before this SIT on Saturday. The builder was also lured to help in the case and a huge ransom was demanded from him. Jitendra Kandare was appointed to the BHR Multi State Credit Institution in Jalgaon due to large-scale malpractices. He, with the help of others, had taken the depositors’ receipts at a low price and cheated people on a large scale by pretending to return 100 pc of the money. A case was registered at the Deccan Gymkhana Police Station against SPP Chavan for accepting a bribe of Rs 1.22 cr. Suraj Sunil Zanwar had lodged a complaint about this. The investigation into the crime was later transferred to Jalgaon. SIT is currently investigating this crime.

The statement of a construction professional in Pune was recorded in this matter. It was recorded for almost 3 hours. This time, the builder said in his statement that Pravin Chavan lured him to help him in a big case in Pune and asked for ransom. It is said that he told how he was pressured to make the relative a partner in the business.

The statement of Tejas More was also recorded. He used to go to the office of SPP Pravin Chavan. He said, when he went to Chavan’s office in December 2021, Chavan, his colleague Adv. Mohit Mahimtura were counting the money. When asked, Chavan said it was Rs 1 cr. He said that the money was sent by Uday. Out of that Rs 1 lakh cash was given to Adv. Mohit Mahimtura, More said in his statement.
