Crackdown on Illegal Activities: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Arrest Three, including Two Tadipar Accused, Seize Arms

Pune: In the background of the Lok Sabha elections, the Pimpri Chinchwad police have intensified efforts to combat the proliferation of illegal weapons in the city. In a series of operations, three individuals, including two tadipar criminals, have been apprehended, and a cache of weapons has been seized. Cases have been registered at Pimpri and Chakan police stations in connection with these incidents.

The first arrest occurred behind the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in Pimpri, where Crime Branch Unit-2 detained a criminal and confiscated a sharp machete valued at Rs. 300. The arrested individual, identified as Dutta Santosh Dhotre, aged 21 and hailing from Otaskim Nigdi, had previously been declared “tadipar” from Pune district for a period of two years by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Circle-1. Dhotre’s unauthorised presence in the city during his “tadipar” status led to his arrest, with Police Constable Shivaji Namdev Mundhe lodging a complaint at Pimpri Police Station.

In a separate incident in Bhimnagar, Pimpri, another criminal, Aditya Ram Surve, aged 20 and residing in Bhimnagar, was apprehended, and a sharp machete worth Rs. 200 was seized from him. Similar to Dhotre, Surve had also been declared “tadipar” for two years in Pune district by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Circle 1. Surve’s unauthorised presence in the city resulted in his arrest, with Police Constable Shivaji Namdev Mundhe filing a complaint at Pimpri Police Station.

Furthermore, Chakan police successfully apprehended a young man found in possession of an unlicensed pistol near Ganapati Temple on Chakan-Shikrapur Road in Kadachiwadi. The individual, identified as Bharat Tukaram Zaid, aged 30 and a resident of Chimbli Phata, Taluka Khed, was arrested under the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.

A pistol valued at Rs. 50,000 and a live cartridge worth Rs. 200 were seized from Zaid during the operation. Police Constable Hanumant Jairam Kamble filed a complaint at Chakan police station, initiating further investigation into the matter.
