Case filed against doctor for money lending without licence

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime News | A man borrowed money at 4 percent interest for business growth. He paid the money to a merchant from Indore to purchase goods. But due to the lockdown, he himself got stuck in Indore, while the merchant did not send the goods. The merchant, to whom he sent the goods, died of COVID and hence the man could not get paid for his goods. The man who found himself in trouble was beaten up by a doctor, along with his goon companions, and threatened to recover the money by selling his wife and children. (Pune Crime News)

 

In this matter, the police have filed an FIR against Vinod Gopichand Meher (39) from Junnar. A 46-year-old businessman from Ambegaon Khurd has lodged a complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station.

 

According to the police, the complainant runs the business of Agro Commodity Trading. He asked Vinod Meher, a doctor at Alephata, to invest money in his business. Then he said that he was not interested in commodities. He offered Rs 25 lakhs at 4 pc interest to the businessman in April 2019. He deducted Rs 2 lakh from this as interest. The business was running smoothly till October 2019. The businessman borrowed another Rs. 25 lakhs. In February and March 2020, he bought wheat worth Rs 34.50 lakhs from Indore. For that he went to Indore. Due to the lockdown, he got stuck in Indore. There he didn’t get goods and the money was also not returned. Later, when he came to Pune, he dealt with traders from Indapur, Karad. Both of them died due to COVID. So he did not get Rs 22 lakh.

 

The complainant could not return the loaned amount from Vinod Meher. In September 2020, while he was going to Mumbai, Vinod Meher and his gangster friends stopped him. They threatened him saying, ‘Return the money given to you with interest or face dire consequences. We will make your life difficult’. In November 2020, they visited his home in Ambegaon Khurd and beat him up. They threatened that they would sell his wife and children and recover the loan. They also threatened to kill his family members. He was beaten up time and again by calling to different places.

 

The crime branch has investigated the matter and registered a case against the doctor, who was involved in money lending without a license.
