Pune: Zomato Delivery Boy Assaulted Over Tobacco Refusal In Dhankawadi; Accused Absconded With Mobile Phone

Pune: For the frivolous reason of not giving tobacco, three people brutally assaulted a Zomato delivery boy and fled away later by taking his phone. This disturbing incident took place on the public road near Ambos School in Dhankawadi at around 12:30 on Friday night.

As per the police information, the plaintiff, Omkar Hanumant Kumbhari, 30, a resident of Taljai Plateu, Dhankawadi, Pune, works as a delivery boy for a food delivery company along with his father. On Friday night, he went to deliver a food item in Navnath Nagar in Dhankawadi along with his friend.

At that time, one of the three accused asked him for tobacco. When the plaintiff told them that he did not have tobacco because he did not eat it, the enraged accused abused him and launched a scathing assault on him, following a minor tiff between them. They also injured the plaintiff by hitting him with a light tube on his hand. Shockingly, the accused took the plaintiff’s phone by force from him and fled the scene.

After this, the accused lodged a complaint against three accused identified as Shantanu Lohar, Mangaya, and Avya. Based on this information, police registered a criminal case against the accused under IPC 394 and 34 and started an investigation under the guidance of Sub-Inspector of Police Mahesh Nalavde.
