Pune: Blackmail, Sexual Harassment, and Verbal Abuse: Wagholi Girl Lodged Complaint Against 27-Year-Old Acquaintance at Lonikand Police Station

Pune: A 27-year-old man brutally raped a 23-year-old girl by threatening to kill himself if she did not meet him. Furthermore, he also abused her father when the girl stopped talking to him. This shocking incident took place in Pune’s Wagholi area from June 2021 to September 2023 and on Thursday, February 8, 2024.

In this regard, a victim girl filed a complaint against the accused, identified as Gaurav Pandurang Borate, at Lonikand police station on Saturday. As per the primary information, the accused, Borate, is familiar with the victim girl and is originally a resident of Borate Vasti, Kharadi, Pune.

The victim girl complained that the accused initially harassed her by repeatedly calling her to meet him. When the girl refused his request, he threatened to harm himself if she did not meet him. Shockingly, when the girl went to meet him, the accused brutally raped her in his car and also physically assaulted her. The girl mentioned that after that incident, the accused repeatedly engaged in sexual exploitation of her and threatened her against telling anyone about this incident.

Distressed with his exploitation, the girl stopped talking and meeting with him. Enraged by this, the accused, on Thursday, February 8, went to the victim’s house at 11 p.m. and abused the girl’s father. After the latest incident, the girl rushed to the Lonikand police station and lodged a complaint against the accused.

Based on her complaint, the police booked the accused under sections 376/2/N and 506 of the IPC and initiated further investigation into the case under the supervision of female police sub-inspector Bhade.
