Two Rape Cases Unsettle Pune City; Police Investigation Against Accused Underway

Pune: The incidents of crime against women are increasing day by day. In this situation, disturbing acts of rape of two women, including one minor girl, have come to light in Pune City. Therefore, people are asking questions about women’s safety in the city.

In the first incident, a 14-year-old minor girl was brutally raped by a 21-year-old by trapping her into his love and falsely promising her marriage. This incident took place in the Janata Colony area from February 2024 to March 14, 2024. In this regard, Parvati police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested the accused young man.

The accused is the son of the owner of the house where the victim girl resides. According to the police complaint, the accused initially befriended the victim girl into his love trap and took advantage of her trust. By promising her marriage, the accused repeatedly sexually assaulted the minor girl. When the mother of the girl came to know about this, she immediately filed a police complaint at Parvati Police Station.

Acting promptly, Parvati Police registered a police case against the accused under IPC 376/2/N/J and the POCSO Act and subsequently detained him. Meanwhile, Parvati Police are conducting further investigation into the case.

In the second such brutal act, a 19-year-old girl was lured and raped by promising her marriage. The accused called the victim girl to his house and heinously raped her. This incident took place at the residence of the accused from March 7 to March 15.

This incident was revealed after a victim girl, living in the Swargate area, filed a police complaint at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station. Accordingly, police registered a case against 20-year-old Omkar Kailash Giri, a resident of Katraj, under IPC 376/2/N. The police are conducting further investigations.
