“Maximum dams are in Pune district and many people are constructing second homes and resorts near the dam area. The number of such projects is increasing and untreated waste water is released. The waste water mixes with water in the dams which supply water to Pune i.e. Khadakwasla, Pavana, Temghar, Vrasagaon, Panshet, Chasakman, Bham Askhed. This leads to widespread water pollution. To stop this pollution, the Water Resources Department, Urban Development Department and other departments must work in a cohesive manner,” he added.
