Pune: A perturbing incident has come to light in Lonavala, where a physically challenged girl suffered from a brain stroke due to unbearable harassment by hostel mates. This incident was revealed after the victim girl’s father lodged a complaint regarding it at Lonavala Rural Police Station.

The concerned 19-year-old victim is a second-year student of BBA-CA at a private college in Lonavala. As per the information, the victim girl is physically challenged and lives in a hostel in Lonavala.

The girl’s father complained that his daughter was being constantly harassed by her roommates. Her roommates were harassing, bullying, and ragging her, sometimes confining her inside the bathroom and locking the door from outside, and sometimes abusing and threatening her with a knife. The father further complained that her daughter was bullied by her roommates because of her disability.

Because of the constant ragging, the victim girl went through the trauma and started feeling stressed. After that, the girl talked to her father about it. However, shockingly, when the victim’s father confronted the situation with one of the daughter’s fathers, he threatened the victim’s father, saying he works in the army.

Furthermore, when the victim complained about it to the school principle, she brazenly told her to keep quiet and advised her against lodging complaints against the accused girls on the pretext of not spoiling their careers.

However, the persistent ragging and bullying became unbearable to the victim, because of which she suffered a brain stroke on March 12 at 11 p.m. After that, the girl was admitted to a private hospital for treatment, and she is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of Pimpri-Chinchwad City Hospital.

After this, the victim girl’s father lodged a complaint against all the accused girls at Lonavala Rural Police Station and demanded stricter action against them. However, he also alleged Lonavala Police for not assisting him and working slowly on the case because of some external pressure.

When asked about it, senior police inspector Dhumal of Lonavala Rural Police Station informed that because of the victim’s inability to talk, our investigation is not moving ahead. However, he assured that Lonavala police will complete the investigation in due time once the victim girl gains consciousness.
