Pune Crime News | Man arrested in Gujarat for cheating Pune-based man of ₹23 lakh

PUNE : Pune Crime News | A member of a gang which cheated a man by telling him that he will make huge profit if he invests in shares, has been arrested from Mehsana in Gujarat by the Chandan Nagar police. Three accomplices of the accused are still absconding.

 

The arrested accused has been identified as Pravinbhai Chauhan (22), a resident of Mehsana, Gujarat. An FIR had been registered at the Chandan Nagar police station against the accused and his aides for cheating a man of ₹22.81 lakh. The accused had contacted the complainant from an unknown mobile number and had told him that investment in the share market would yield huge returns. Initially, the accused invested money and earned profit for the complainant. After winning the trust of the complainant, the accused transferred ₹22.81 lakh which was deposited by the complainant in his account to his account. Later, when the complainant contacted the accused, he did not give any response and cheated him.

 

During the investigation, the Chandan Nagar police traced the mobile from which a call had been made to the complainant. The police came to know that the accused are in Vad Nagar in Gujarat. The police carried out a technical examination. When the police came to know that the accused are in Mehsana in Gujarat, a team of Chandan Nagar police went to Gujarat and with the help of Kherula police station, tried to trace the accused. Police officers from different states were also searching for the accused as he had cheated many people in different states.

 

The Chandan Nagar police traced the accused and apprehended him. The accused was brought to Pune on a transit remand. The court had remanded him to judicial custody till June 21, 2023. When the accused was grilled, the police came to know that he had three accomplices.

 

CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Shashikant Borate, ACP Sanjay Patil, Sr PI Rajendra Landge, PI Jagannath Jankar guided PSI Rameshwar Revale, Havaldar Bharat Ukirade, policeman Santosh Shinde, policewoman Memane and Dahale in taking the action.
