Pune: Crime Branch Arrests Children for Holi Mischief on FC Road; Parents Also Held Accountable

Pune: On the festive occasion of Holi, a viral video depicting children hurling water balloons at pedestrians on FC Road sparked outrage on social media. Responding swiftly to the incident, the Crime Branch Unit-1 took decisive action, leading to the arrest of the children involved.

Senior officers of the Crime Branch issued directives on Sunday, ordering immediate action against the individuals seen in the viral video on Policenama’s Instagram page. Subsequently, Police Officers Datta Sonawane and Shashikant Darekar from Unit-1 meticulously reviewed CCTV footage within Shivajinagar and Deccan Police Station limits, successfully identifying and detaining Prateek Dattatray More (21 years old, resident of Kasba Peth, Pune) and Karan Vitthal Davre (19 years old, resident of Kasba Peth, Pune).

Both individuals were charged under Section 279, 3,181 of the Motor Vehicle Act for their reckless behavior. Additionally, a complaint was lodged against the parents of the minor children involved, namely Rangaswamy Anna Gowda (55 years old, resident of Hadapsar, Pune) and Dhondiram Machchindra Akhade (45 years old, resident of Kasba Peth, Pune), under Section 3,5,199(A) of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The authorities have handed over the parents to the Deccan Police for further legal proceedings.

This action was taken by the police team of Senior Police Inspector Shabbir Syed, Assistant Police Inspector (API) Avinash Kavathekar , Police Sub Inspector Ramesh Tapkir, Police Constable Datta Sonwane, Shashikant Darekar, Shubham Desai, Mahesh Bamgude, Nilesh Sable, Rahul Makhare, Aniket Babar, Ayyaz Daddikar, and Mahesh Sartape, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police Crime Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amol Zende, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime 1 Sunil Tambe.
