An FIR had been registered against two people based on a complaint lodged by Taad’s brother Vikram Taad. The Sangli police have arrested four people from Gokak in Karnataka. (Sangli Crime News)
Vijay Taad was killed after being shot on March 17 and names of five accused had come to light. One of the accused is a former BJP corporator. The police acted promptly and arrested four people from Gokak in Karnataka. The main accused, former corporator Umesh Sawant, is absconding.
On March 17, Vijay Taad was going to the school to bring his children. The accused stopped his car near Alphonso School and attacked him. Many bullets were fired at him and a huge stone was used to hit him on the head. The incident had created a flutter in Sangli district.
After getting the information, SP of Sangli Basavraj Teli rushed to the spot and started an investigation. The four accused have been identified as Bablu alias Sandip Shankar Chavan, Nikesh alias Dada Madne, Akash Vankhande and Kiran Vitthal Chavan.
SP Teli said that former corporator Umesh Sawant is absconding and efforts are being made to trace him.
