Father-son drown in Ujaini dam after boat overturns
The incident happened while one of the family members was talking a selfie
Pune: A father-son duo drowned in Ujani dam in Karmala taluka after their boat overturned while taking a selfie on Sunday, the police said.
The deceased have been identified as Vikas Gopal Shendge (39) and his son Ajinkya Vikas Shendge (13), residents of Gurunagar, Akluj. The boatmen took the youths out from the pond and rescued Vikas’s wife, Swati and daughter, Anjali.
“While one of the family members was clicking a selfie, the boat got disbalanced and overturned. All the six persons fell into the water,” Solapur’s Superintendent of Police Tejasvi Satpute said.
According to the police, the family had come to Karmala to attend a wedding. They then went to their friend Satav’s house at Wangi. The family went for boating in Ujaini and their boat overturned while taking a selfie and as a result the family of four fell into the pond.
