Youths playing cricket in Ghorpade Peth apprehend robber fleeing after snatching gold chain; ACP Satish Govekar, Sr PI Sangeeta Yadav felicitate them
PUNE: Youths who were playing cricket chased and apprehended a man who was running away after snatching the gold chain of a woman doctor, who was walking to her residence. The incident took place at Ghorpade Peth on Tuesday at 3.30 pm. The youths handed over the man to the officials of Khadak police station. ACP Satish Govekar and Sr PI Sangeeta Yadav of Khadak police station felicitated the youths by giving them a bouquet.
Dr Arnika Akhilesh Singh (29), a resident of Guruwar Peth, was walking to her residence. At that time, an unidentified person snatched her gold chain and ran away. Dr Arnika shouted for help. Govardhan Vilas Gogawale, Hemant Vinayak Zende, Umesh Kashid and Abhishek Digambar Jadhav were playing cricket in Ghorapde Peth. They heard Dr Arnika Singh’s cries for help and started chasing the unidentified person and apprehended him.
The police seized the gold chain. Mahesh Laxman Sawant, a resident of Thergaon, was arrested after an FIR was registered against him. On behalf of the police, ACP Satish Govekar and Sr PI Sangeeta Yadav felicitated the youths by presenting them with a bouquet for showing courage and thanked them. The Khadak police have appealed to citizens to show courage and help fellow citizens.
