Anti-encroachment department’s midnight action against food carts at Nalstop clears ‘Night Life’
Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s anti-encroachment squad finally acted against the food stalls and carts at Nalstop Chowk on Karve road. They used to start operating after the midnight.
The stall and cart owners have been warned not to reassemble again. Around 10-12 food carts were operating after 12 am for the past some months at the place. Operating under the name ‘Night Life’, they used to attract crowds disturbing the local residents, who had complained about them to civic officials. Hence, the action was taken.
The cart owners used to sell poha, tea, etc. Initially, there were a couple of vendors. After crowds started swelling, the number of carts increased. People used to visit them not only from Kothrud but from other parts of the city. Many of them were youngsters, who got attracted by the name ‘Night Life’. Noise pollutions and frequent scuffles were disturbing peace in the locality.
The anti-encroachment department had limitations while acting against them as they used to operate after 12 am till the wee hours. Finally, the Kothrud ward office anti-encroachment squad seized tables, chairs and carts on Tuesday night. They have been warned against resuming the business, failing which legal action would be taken against them. This was revealed by officials from the anti-encroachment department.
