Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch) Tejaswi Satpute on Thursday suspended Dinesh Gajbhate and Mangesh Jadhav, both posted with Bundgarden traffic division.

The incident took place on September 2. Both policemen were posted at the RTO chowk from 12 noon to 2 pm. After that they were asked to go to ISKCON Temple camp as there was a crowd there on Krishna Janmasthmi.

However, they didn’t go there. Around 6 pm they approached a car driver near the chowk for parking the vehicle in a no-parking zone. When they checked his registration number on e-challan machine, it was found that the car was not registered.

They asked the car drive Gajana Dahibhate of Baner to pay Rs 6000 fine. Later they took Rs 500 bribe and allowed him to go away.

On Thursday, DCP Satpute suspended them for maligning the image of police among the public.
