31 patients succumbs to swine flu in Maharashtra state

The deadly Swine flu virus which was inactive for the last seven months has become active in the month of August and September.

The virus which is commonly known as ‘H1 N1′ has taken its toll At least 31in state including 4 from Pune city only. And 201 patients found positive up to 1st September.

The virus which had claimed 777 lives last year up to 31st December in the state, had very few casualties up to 31st July this year. But as it was raining as well as dressing for the entire August month this year, created a favorable atmosphere to an unexpected increment in the viral load.

The ‘H1 N1’ virus which multiplies in rain and moisture atmosphere has led to the sudden spike in the patients across the state, said the state official from communicable disease in Pune.

Since January to 1st September this year, more than 12 lakh 64 four thousand suspected patients were screened across the state. From which total 2,412 patients found suspected while 201 patients were found positive. Of the total suspected patients, 13921 patients were administered Tamiflu tablets, an anti-virus medicine.

The condition is been witness critical in Pune and the Pune twins city Pimpri Chinchwad both cities which are highly sensitive for the prevalence of the virus for last 10 years.

Total 13 patients including four from Pune Municipal Corporation, nine from Pimpri Chinchwad and one from rural Pune died of swine flu up to 1st September.

Other districts of Maharashtra State, especially in Nashik to such cases, are been reported with the H1N1 virus. Total 36 positive patients were found and nine death recorded in Nashik district securing the second position after Pune. Rest of the deaths recorded one from Kolhapur, one from Ahmednagar, three from Akola, one from Buldhana and two from Nagpur has been reported.
