Pune:  NpNews24 Online – Pune News | Joint Sub-Registrar SP Bhatambrekar at the Sub-Registrar’s Office (Haveli No. 24), Akurdi has been suspended for charging Rs 24.90-crore less stamp duty in a sale deed. (Pune News)

An order, in this regard, has been issued by State Under Secretary Pritamkumar Jawale. Pune City Collector of Stamps Officer Santosh Hingane paid a surprise visit to the said office on October 12. A squad from his office started randomly checking the documents registered between September 1 and October 11 at the Haveli No. 24 office. It apparently detected the sale deed registered on September 11, for which over Rs 24.90 crores of less stamp duty was charged. Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps Hiralal Sonawane reported the matter to the State Government on October 17.

It was found that Bhatambrekar did not charge the proper stamp duty for the sale deed causing a huge revenue loss to the State Government. Therefore, he has been suspended from October 19 till the next order is issued. Till then, Bhatambrekar will remain posted at the Collector of Stamps Office, Gadchiroli. He is not supposed to leave the office without the permission of the government.
