Pune News : Alprazolam stocks seized from Shirur, Junnar talukas

Pune/Shirur/Narayangaon: NpNews24 Online  – Pune News | The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai has arrested two persons during raids at the villages, including Midgulwadi in Shirur taluka and Pimpalgaon Tarphe Narayangaon in Junnar taluka, and seized Alprazolam, which is used to manufacture narcotic drugs. This has shocked the villagers in these areas. (Pune News)

 

The NCB has been conducting raids at various places in the State following the escape of drug racketeer Lalit Patil from the Sassoon Hospital. In an action at a remote hamlet, Midgulwadi in Shirur taluka, it seized 174-kg Alprazolam. The NCB, Mumbai squad, along with the Shikrapur Police, conducted the raids.

 

According to the details, the manufacturing was going on in a tin shed surrounded by vegetation at Midgulwadi. The people engaged in the activity used to tell villagers that they were producing phenyl used for cleaning the floor and toilet.

 

The workers hailed from Mumbai and Andhra Pradesh. Alprazolam is used in medicines to treat insomnia. However, it was being used to make narcotics.

 

26-kg Alprazolam seized in Narayangaon

In the raid at Pimpalgaon Tarphe Narayangaon, 26 kgs of Alprazolam was seized. An accused in this case is absconding. The Narayangaon Police confirmed the raid. A local farmer has a tin shed along the Vadgaon Sahani road. He had rented out the shed to a person from Junnar. The NCB, Mumbai had got a tip-off that narcotics were being manufactured at the place. Hence, it was raided.
