Pune News: Plastic Waste Collection and Cleanliness Drive by Idemitsu Lube India ,marks Swachha Bharat Day

Pune: NpNews24 Online – Pune News | With the Corporate Social Responsibility support of Idemitsu Lube India Pvt. Ltd., All India Institute of Local Self Government (Pune) has been doing important work on Plastic Waste Management in 11 villages of Rasayani-Patalganga region where Gram Swachhata Abhiyan and Plastic Waste Collection Drive was held. On the occasion of ‘Swachha Bharat Day 2023’, a plastic waste collection drive along with a labour donation activity under Gram Swachhata Abhiyan was organised. (Pune News)

The program was graced by the active participation of the Managing Director of Idemitsu Lube India Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Toshiya Namigishi with Mr. Bhushan Damle (Senior Manager, Risk Management) and 28 employee volunteers.In this program, the Deputy Director General of All India Institute of Local Self Government (Pune) Dr. Mukesh Kanaskar informed about the project that has been awarded by Idemitsu Lube India Pvt. Ltd. Chief Guest Toshiya Namigishi while addressing the meeting expressed his happiness for the cooperation of the villagers and also appealed to everyone for their participation in this project as a social commitment because the problem of plastic pollution is becoming monstrous day by day.

The program was a success under the active support and guidance of Mr. Bhushan Damle (Senior Manager, Risk Management, Idemitsu Lube India Pvt. Ltd.), Jambhivali Group Gram Panchayat’s Deputy Sarpanch Manisha Salvi and member Vedika Jailkar, Karade Budruk G.P. School Principal Sandeep Mangle, R.S.Y. Head Vijay Kondilkar, Raigad Bhushan Shankar Godivale, School Management Committee Member Vikas Raikar, All India Institute of Local Self Government’s team, Mr. Vikas Jadhav, Mr. Srinivas Indapurkar and Dr. Shrikant Khadilkar along with other dignitaries were present. The program was held on 3rd October 2023.

The people’s willingness to participate and their joyful response to government of India’s “Swachhata hich seva, ek taas gavachya swachhatesathi” (“Cleanliness is service to all, one hour for village cleanliness”) were the two objectives that were achieved through this program. Through this initiative, the messages such as harms of plastic, avoiding the use of plastic, reuse of plastic etc. have been promoted in the villages.

In this program, a kit of supplementary material was provided to the congregations from 11 surrounding villages who have had significant participation in the project activities. The kit included one solar lamp each, a set of posters on plastic pollution, a cloth bag etc. During the event, local children performed street plays and puppet shows on suited themes. During the activity of making dolls & decorative pots out of waste plastic bottles, the 28 employee volunteers of Idemitsu Lube India Pvt. Ltd. and Chief Guest Mr. Toshiya Namigishi interacted with the villagers and children at length.

Towards the end of the program, the participants undertook a plastic waste collection tour on bicycles with an attached decorative plastic waste collection box on the bicycles and fulfilled the purpose of labour donation. After the plastic waste collection drive, the collected plastic waste was put together to be handed over to the garbage collector later.
