Pune: Brutal Armed Robbery at Argangaon, Shirur; Elderly Woman Killed, Husband Injured

Pune: A dreadful incident of an armed robbery took place at Thombre Vasahat between one and two a.m. at Argangaon in Shirur taluka. In this armed robbery, the robbers beat up an elderly couple and robbed them of gold and silver jewellery. In this assault, Phulabai Ananda Thombre (age 65) got seriously injured and died on the spot due to the beating of the robbers, whereas Ananda Savalaram Thombre (age 79) is seriously injured and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Pune.

In this case, Baba Thombre, the son of the assaulted couple, has filed a complaint at Shikrapur Police Station. According to the information, the Thombre couple lives in Thombre Vasti at Arangaon village on the banks of the river Bhima in Shirur taluka.

On March 18, a few robbers entered the village at night. They locked the doors of other people from outside and entered the house where Phulabai and her husband were sleeping. They brutally assaulted the old couple and proceeded with further dacoity. In the altercation with the robbers, the Thombre couple screams loudly; however, till then, the robbers successfully fled from the village, taking advantage of the night.

In the altercation with the robbers, Phulabai succumbed to the injuries and died on the spot, whereas Ananda Thombre has received multiple injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital in Pune.

Meanwhile, after getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot and investigated the area. Police teams have been formed to nab the robbers, and they are being traced with the help of CCTV and dog teams.
