Pune: Ambegaon Teen Attempts Suicide Amid Unbearable Harassment and Molestation by Two Accused

Pune: A 17-year-old girl from Ambegaon attempted suicide after being exasperated by the harassment of a few students who were constantly chasing her while going to school and class and also bedevilling her on social media. This incident took place on March 13 in the Ambegaon Pathar area.

In this regard, a 50-year-old father of the victim girl lodged a complaint against two accused at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station on Tuesday. Accordingly, police registered a case against Ajinkya Aawte, a resident of Bhosari, and Sujal Khune, a resident of Ambegaon Pathar, under IPC 354(d), 506, 34, and the POCSO Act.

According to the police, the accused have been harassing the complainant’s 17-year-old daughter since January 2024. The accused were constantly teasing her and were attempting to molest her while she was going to and from school and classes. A few days ago, the accused also started targeting the girl on social media, and they started threatening her to make her obscene photos viral on social media.

Distressed by this constant harassment, the victim girl decided to take her own life and attempted to commit suicide by hanging herself on March 13 at her house. In this regard, Police Sub-Inspector Sonali Mithare is conducting further investigations.
