After terror alert, Kondhwa police takes action against six beggars

Pune : After getting complaints from people regarding begging at mosques in the month of Ramzan, officials from Kondhwa police station took action against six such beggars. They were seeking alms at various mosques on Friday. Few days back a terror alert has been issued by intelligence agencies stating that terrorist might take cover of beggars to target religious places.

The action was taken against Iqbal Khan (35) of Rajasthan, Sarwar Haider Sheikh (40) of Nanded, Sunil James Adalkar (30) of Andhra Pradesh, Mohammed Abdul Rahman Ahmed Shaikh (34) of Thane, Mohammad Hanif Shaikh (32) of Neral. Cases were filed against them under Section 4 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Begging Act. They were produced before a magistrate court which sent to the beggars reception (rehabilitation) centre in Phulenagar, Yerwada. They will be given various skills training there.
DCP (zone 5) Prakash Gaikwad, ACP Milind Patil supervised the police team which included Inspector Mahadev Kumbhar, Police Sub-Inspector Sagar Kale, Police Havildar Suresh Bhapkar, Girme, Misal and Chavan.
