Pawar issued the directive during a review meeting chaired by him. A meeting will be held on Tuesday in the District Collector’s office to take further action in this regard. There are numerous eateries, restaurants and hotels in the city. Many of them have rooftop restaurants, which are being run without official permissions. Such rooftop joints came in the limelight due to accidental fires or for some other illegal activities. Mainly, they are operated in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) took action against 72 of such illegal joints in the past some months. However, some of them are still operating. The civic administration has taken a serious note of this. Ajit Pawar directed to initiate strict action against such rooftop eateries, said Vikram Kumar.

PMRDA to prepare development plan to check pollution of Khadakwasla Dam

There are 24 villages surrounding the Khadakwasla Dam, which supplies water to the city. There are over 100 resorts and restaurants in these villages. Construction activity is growing in these villages. There are no underground drainages in these villages, resulting in the direct sewage release into the dam water. This has increased pollution of the dam water, which can cause major hygiene issues in the future. In this background, The PMRDA should prepare a development plan regarding the sewage management and action should be taken against resorts and hotels violating rules and regulations. These directives were issued by Ajit Pawar in the review meeting. The PMRDA will prepare the development plan in the next two months, said Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar.
