Pune Crime News | SSC of Pune police Crime Branch arrests six bookies from Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Bihar from Kharadi for accepting bets on IPL matches
PUNE: Pune Crime News | The SSC of the Pune police Crime Branch raided a flat on the ninth floor of Galaxy One Society in Kharadi and exposed a betting racket involving IPL cricket matches. The racket was being operated by six big bookies from Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Bihar. The action was taken on Wednesday night at 9 pm. The police have seized goods worth ₹5 lakh from the spot. The seized goods include 16 mobiles and two laptops.
The arrested accused have been identified as Gaurav Dayaram Dharamvani (27), a resident of Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Japjit Singh Atamjit Singh Bagga, a resident of Chhattisgarh, Jasprit Manjinder Singh (29), a resident of Punjab, Tarandeep Baljinder Singh (33), a resident of Punjab and Lalkishore Dukhi Ram (37), a resident of Bihar. An FIR has been registered against the accused and a bookie DK at the Chandan Nagar police station.
The SSC had received information that some bookies were accepting bets on IPL cricket matches in a flat in a society in Kharadi. Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale and DCP Amol Zende guided Sr PI Bharat Jadhav, API Aniket Pote and other officials who verified the information. Later, a team of police officials raided flat number A-902 on the ninth floor of Galaxy One Society in Kharadi. The police found that the accused were accepting bets on IPL matches. The accused misused a SIM card of Bindiya Yadav and cheated her. The police found that through various websites found on laptops, bets were being accepted on Mumbai Indians versus Lucknow Super Giants match. An FIR has been registered against the accused under sections 420, 34 of the IPC, sections 4(A) and 5 of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Gambling Act and section 25 (C) of the Indian Telegraph Act. Sixteen mobile handsets, two laptops, wifi router and cash worth ₹4.8 0 lakh were found and the police have seized the goods.
Under the guidance of seniors, Sr PI Bharat Jadhav, API Aniket Pote, API Rajesh Malegave, Havaldar Rajendra Kumawat, Havaldar Baba karepe, Havaldar Bhivarkar, policemen Sandeep Kolge, Ajay Rane, Sagar Kekan, Amey Rasal, Kishor Bhujbal and Omkar Kumbhar took the action.
