DIAT, PUNE ALONG WITH IIT MADRAS AND ALVA, IE&T, MANGALORE ORGANIZED AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON LASER DEPOSITION (ICOLD-2023)

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Pune along with Indian Institute of Technology Madras and ALVA’s Institute of Engineering & Technology, Mangalore organized an International Conference on Laser Deposition (iCOLD-2023) from 23-25 March, 2023 at DIAT Pune.

 

This three days international conference consists of keynotes addresses and discussions by distinguished speakers such as Prof. T. Venkatesan, who is known as Father of PLD (now at Oklahoma University, USA), Scientists of DRDO and eminent academicians and industry experts. Beside there will be paper presentations and oral presentations on Laser Deposition. There were more than 10 industrial companies projecting their advanced products in Laser and Optics. Laser Science, Microdynamics, Anatek are the major sponsors for this event.

 

This international conference was mainly aims to bring together eminent academicians, scientists, corporate executives, researchers, technocrats and experts at a common platform for exploring present technological advances and innovations which plays key role on Laser Deposition. The conference also provided attendees with a unique opportunity to learn the laser technology and tools. Around 125 participants from different parts of the India including foreign nations of USA, France and Germany were registered for this international conference.

 

Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO is the Chief Patron of the iCOLD-2023 and Shri Hari Babu Srivastava OS & Director General – Technology Management (TM), DRDO was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function held on 23/03/2023, whereas Dr. C. P. Ramanarayanan, Vice Chancellor DIAT is Patron and Prof. Sangeeta Kale, Professor, Deptt. of Applied Physics was the Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

 

On this occasion, Dr Hari Babu Srivastava mentioned that “Laser technology is coming up with new avenues typically in Quantum Technology and hence such conferences are very important”, Dr. C. P. Ramanarayanan, Vice Chancellor mentioned that DIAT is the first institution to establish School in Quantum Technology, in India he said this event will throw more light on such futuristic technologies ahead. Dr. Sangeeta Kale, Chairman of the Organizing Committee mentioned that “Heterostructures, carbon-based materials, high power and low-power lasers for epitaxial and stoichiometric growth of thin films is the scope of this event, which will see a gradual, yet paradigm shift from Silicon Technology to carbon-based technology and pulsed lasers will play an important role”.
