Unidentified caller seeks extortion of ₹25 lakh from BJP leader Ganesh Bidkar

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime News | A few days ago, a spoof call was made on behalf of former mayor and General Secretary of BJP Murlidhar Mohol and an extortion of ₹3 crore was demanded from a builder. The police arrested two people in connection with the case. It was found that the accused had misused the name of Mohol. A WhatsApp call was made to BJP leader and former corporator Ganesh Bidkar and an extortion of ₹25 lakh was demanded. An FIR has been registered at the Cyber police station. Ganesh Bidkar (50), a resident of 316, Somwar Peth, has lodged a complaint with the Cyber police station. According to the complaint, On March 30, 2023 at 9.30 pm when Bidkar was in a Ram Navmi procession, he got a call from a WhatsApp number. The caller started abusing Bidkar in Marathi and Hindi. “You have become very arrogant. You have a lot of money. Spend some money or I will defame you and finish your political career. Give me ₹25 lakh, if you don’t give money, see what will happen,” the caller told Bidkar and abused him.

 

Bidkar is a political worker and this is an attempt to tarnish his image. Bidkar immediately approached the cyber police station in Pune and informed the officials about the call. The cyber police have registered an FIR of extortion against the WhatsApp caller. The cyber police are probing the case.
