To pull out the bus that fell in quarry, Mahabaleshwar Poladpur road closed

Finally, after 70 days the bus which crashed  into Ambenali Ghat was pulled out on Saturday  October 6. Almost after 6 hours of efforts from the government officials and Mahabaleshwar Trekkers the bus has been pulled out of the Ambenali Ghat. For the same the Mahabaleshwar-Poladpur way was closed for 8 hours.

A mini bus carrying 34 passengers met with an accident on July 27  morning near Ambenali Ghat. The bus fell into a valley 800 feet deep killing 33 people on the spot. Employees of Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth including two drivers were travelling in this bus. This bus has been finally pulled out of the valley after 70 days for which the road was kept closed on Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm. The traffic of Mahabaleshwar-Poladpur road was diverted for the time being.

At a turn in Ambenali Ghat the driver lost control of the bus and the bus feel in to the valley.

A carne was called to take out the bus from the valley. Mahabaleshwar trekkers who helped in the rescues operation also helped the take out the bus. The task to take out the bus was really tough as its rainy season going on and heavy rain took place in last 70 days, thus this has loosen the soil and huge debris had covered the bus.

Assistant superintendent Prakash Sawant Desai was the sole survivor from 34. Desai said, “I was sitting beside the driver, we were all laughing and joking but in the second moment we fell into the valley. I could manage to save my life because of the blessings of God but I could hear my friends screaming”.

But a resident of Gimhavane village in Dapoli taluka, Sanjay Gurav suspected that it was a well-planned accident.

He is also suspecting that the sole survival Prakash Sawant Desai, the sole survivor was involved in it, although nothing has been proved till now. Gurav has submitted a petition regarding his claims to the administrative department of the University of Dapoli.

In his application he has mentioned that, The Geographical characteristics and how it affected the accident. The Ambenali ghat at one side has high altitude and on the other side, it is dangerously deep. It is quite evident from the conditions of the dead bodies that the landslides occurring in the spot are dangerous as well as unavoidable, leading to tremendous such accidents.

The authorities, police officials, eyewitnesses told that the spot where the accident took place was the safest spot in the entire ghat. So that there were very rare chances of any accidents taking place.
