What does it mean?

Every party and its candidates have to fallow the code of conducts. If any party or its member violates these rules, then EC has right to take action against them. Even, EC can cancel his/her tickets and file FIR (First Information Report) against him/her.

After EC declare dates of Code of Conduct:

Before elections in any state, EC imposes code of conduct along with the declaration of election dates. As soon as it gets imposed, state government and administration has to follow many restrictions. State government’s officers work for EC and follow its instructions until the election is over.

After code of conduct get imposed:

Once code of conduct get imposed, then state’s chief minister or other ministers cannot make any sort of announcements or inaugurations. If they take such kind of steps, then it is to be consider as a violation of code of conducts. It means they cannot do such kind of activities, from which they partly can get any benefits from it. Even, EC keeps an eye on their every activity. Political parties and candidates have to take prior permission before holding any meeting or arranging rallies.
