The main reason of this Union is to look into the problems of neglected zones of the railway in Maharashtra like Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Konkan. Railway problems related to these parts of Maharashtra are always ignored by the railway authority.

While talking in a Press Conference in Pune, Vikas Deshpande, the secretary of Rail Yatri Sangh (RYS) said, “ Most of the funds which come for the overall development of Maharashtra Railways goes to Mumbai which has the most number of railway passengers in the state. That’s valid but what about the other zones of Maharashtra. Thus, we are demanding a separate zone for Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra.”

“In this separate zone, inclusion of Nanded, Pune, Solapur, Bhusaval, and Konkan should be made. If this is done, much-unfinished works will be easy to complete.” Added the president Ajit Kunkuloy.

They also added that the railway system still works as it was during the British rule, the railway department has not changed with the time.

Some important key-demands of RYS:

1. Increase the number of CCTV on railways

2. More appointment of Railway Police

3. Establishment for Sahyadri Zone

This union has also come up with an initiative in which they are giving passengers a flat form to complain about the issues they face with railways.
