Pune Crime News | Software engineer dies by suicide after being cheated of ₹1 crore

FIR registered against Ashtavinayak Firm Director Selva Nader, Prasad Shinde, Sachin Kumar and Ajinkya Lokhande

PUNE : Pune Crime News |  A software engineer died by suicide after jumping from the terrace of a building in Kharadi after being duped of ₹1 crore in an investment scheme. An FIR has been registered against the directors of Ashtavinayak Firm for abetting his suicide and who have cheated investors of nearly ₹300 crore. The incident took place on July 13 at 3.45 am.

 

The deceased has been identified as Prabhat Shambhuprasad Ranjan (46), a resident of Kharadi. Rajiv Shambhu Prasad Ranjan (48), a resident of Jharkhand, has lodged a complaint at the Chandan Nagar police station. The police have registered an FIR against the Director of Ashtavinayak Firm Selva Nader, Prasad Shinde, Sachin Kumar, a resident of Patna, Ajinkya Lokhande, a resident of Wanawadi.

 

Prabhat Rajan was working in a software company. When he was cheated of his money which he had invested, he died by suicide on July 13 at 3.45 am by jumping from the terrace of the building. Before taking the extreme step, Ranjan had written a suicide note which has been seized by the police. He has mentioned that he was dying by suicide after being cheated.

 

According to the police, Prabhat Ranjan was staying at Kharadi with his wife and two children. After he came to know that Prabhat had died by suicide, his brother went to his house and he found a note in a drawer. Prabhat had mentioned that Ashtavinayak Firm’s Director Selva Nader and Prasad Shinde had told him to invest money in the firm and told him to take a loan of ₹90 lakh, which Prabhat invested in the company. In February 2023, Nader closed his office and disappeared. The Economic Offences Wing has registered an FIR at the Bund Garden police station.

 

Sachin Kumar took ₹15 lakh from him by promising him handsome profit if invested in SS Enterprises. He also prepared fake documents and cheated him. Ranjan’s Mercedes car was purchased by Ajinkya Lokhande for ₹7.5 lakh. He gave only ₹3 lakh and did not give the remaining amount.

 

All accused cheated Ranjan of ₹1.17 crore and Ranjan, who was depressed, took the extreme step. The complaint states that Ranjan was forced to commit suicide. API Khandekar is probing the case.
