Man kills cousin over land dispute by attacking her 35 times with sickle

Pune : NpNews24 OnlinePune Crime | An adivasi woman was murdered at Talpewadi in the limits of Malegaon Budruk village In Andarmaval area. The police carried out an investigation and arrested the accused in two days. The woman was killed by her cousin over a land dispute. (Pune Crime)

 

The accused has been identified as Vasant Raghu Mali (28) and he is the cousin of the deceased. On March 13, the accused had attacked his cousin Fasabai Salu Nisal (35) with a sickle 35 times and caused grievous injuries on her hand, face and neck resulting in her death.

 

According to Addl SP Mitesh Ghatte, the woman’s naked body was found in a pool of blood. Since no clue was found, it was difficult for the police to trace the accused. Two teams of policemen under the guidance of SP Dr Abhinav Deshmukh i.e. Crime Branch and Wadgaon police had been formed to find the culprit.

 

The police tried to find out whether the woman had any dispute with anyone. They came to know that she had a dispute with her cousin over a piece of land. The police found that Mali’s behaviour was suspicious. Mali was apprehended and was grilled by the police. He admitted killing his cousin due to the land dispute. Although the deceased naked body was found, no untoward incident had taken place.

 

After killing his cousin, Mali washed his hands in a drum and went to the jungle. He washed his blood-stained shirt in a stream of water and had also hidden the sickle behind a rock. Later, he went home. He was moving about freely after destroying the evidence.

 

Mali and his cousin jointly owned 9 acre land and they had a dispute over the land for a long time. He had planned to kill his cousin and her husband and he used to keep a vigil near the cow shed. However, only his cousin came to the cow shed to give water to the animals and Mali attacked her resulting in her death. Since her husband was working in the field, his life was saved.

 

The action was taken by a team of police officials including PSI Vijay Vadode, Santosh Chame, Rameshwar Dhongde, Amol Gore, Prakash Waghmare, Pramod Navle, Sunil Javle, Shreeshail Kantoli, Sachin Kale, Amol Kasbekar, Manoj Kadam, Sanjay Supe, Amol Tawre, Shashikant Khopde, Bhausaheb Khade, Santosh Wadekar, Pran Yevle, Home Guard Suresh Shinde and Navnath Chimte under the guidance of SP Dr Abhinav Deshmukh, Addl SP Mitesh Ghatte, PI Ashok Shelke and PI Vilas Bhosle.
