‘A Journey Gone Wrong’, a novel, penned by Gita Vishwanath released

Pune : NpNews24 OnlineWriter Gita Vishwanath | The book release function and reading session of ‘A Journey Gone Wrong’ written by Gita Vishwanath, the writer of ‘Twice It Happened’, was held jointly by Marshall Book Café, Aundh and Vishwakarma Publications recently.

 

Children’s book writer Deepak Dalal and Vishwakarma Publications CEO Vishal Sony released the second novel of Vishwanath. The writer was felicitated by her then classmate from Pune University and Senior PI Vishnu Tamhane.

 

Gita Vishwanath wrote this novel during the lockdown period in the pandemic. Her stories and characters are based on her observations during the lockdown. They story of the novel takes shape as some members of families, who were either separated or were too close to each other during this period. It is a beautiful narrative of a nuclear family, whose members had to stay away from each other for some time.

 

Commenting on the observations made by Deepak Dalal on the novel, Gita Vishwanath said the imaginary village Gajulupur in the novel is fashioned after her maternal grandparents’ village in Kolar district. She also revived some of her childhood memories.

 

Speaking about her writing habit, Vishwanath said one needs discipline to write. She writes at least two pages daily for a couple of hours, which helps her. When she is not writing, she is observing.

 

Some excerpts from the novel were read out. Readers also gave their feedback. Poona College former principal Dr Muzaffar Salim read out from the novel.

 

Jayant Dasgupta spoke on the heroine in the novel. Dr Zeenat Khan, the writer’s friend from the university days, also spoke. Artist Dr Tejashree Ranade and Sucheta Siddha painted portraits of Gita Vishwanath and Deepak Dalal during the programme. Sarvesh Gosavi made the introductory speech. Nupur Jain proposed a vote of thanks.
