‘Munabhai MBBS trick lands youth in Pune police custody

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE– After the demise of his parents, his elder brother made sure that the 20-year-old youth from Bhusawal studies well and becomes MBBS doctor by getting admission in any government medical college.

The youth Sayyed Junaid though scored decent marks in the entrance exam NEET, he could not get the admission. But to impress his brother, Junaid came to Pune on Saturday, got a uniform stitched similar that of AFMC students. On Monday, around 2 pm he went to Command Hospital and clicked some photos in uniform and sent them to his brother, claiming he has obtained admission. But later told him that his marks in one subject is less.

However, his behaviour and wrong dress caught the attention of security officials who took him in custody and questioned him. They found some admission related documents which were fake and also stamps of AFMC, dean, hostel warden. After an enquiry by Army, IB and ATS officials, he was handed over to Wanowrie police station.

Police have registered an FIR against Junaid for offences under 170 (impersonating as public servant), 171 (wearing garb or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent), 465 (punishment for forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged document as genuine), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seal etc.) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

DCP (zone 5) Prakash Gaikwad said that Junaid had faked admission in AFMC to impress upon his family.

On Tuesday, a magistrate courts him to police custody till December 29.

Assistant Police Inspector DV Raut is further investigating the case under the supervision of senior police inspector Sayaji Gaware, in-charge of Wanowrie police station.
