Man rapes minor girl after promising to marry her; FIR registered at Vimantal police station

The Vimantal police have registered an FIR against Nitesh Vasanta Chavan (30), a resident of Akola district. A 38-year-old woman resident of Lohegaon has lodged a complaint (191/23) at the Viman Nagar police station. The incident took place from April 5 to April 17, 2023.
According to the police, the accused made friendship with a 16-year-old girl and told her that he loved her. He promised to marry her after she became 18 years old and decamped with her. He pretended to marry her at Alandi and kept her in a room in a field in Wardha. An FIR has been registered against the accused because he has established physical relations with her. PSI Chaudhary is investigating the case.
