Four criminals sentenced to six years’ rigorous imprisonment under MCOCA

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime News | Special Judge Satyanarayan Navandar has sentenced a gang of four criminals to six years’ rigorous imprisonment and levied a fine of ₹15 lakh and 10 thousand on each of them for trying to extort ₹3,000 as contribution for Eid and a monthly payment of ₹2,000 from a Chinese stall owner and also threatening him to poison the food items made at his stall. The convicts have been identified as Abdul Ghani Khan, Akshay Rajesh Naik, Akram Nasir Pathan and Akshay Ankush Mane. A Chinese stall owner had lodged a complaint against the four people. Vijay Fargade was the Public Prosecutor in the case.

 

Since January 2017, the four used to eat at the stall but never paid for it. They used to threaten the stall owner if they were not served food. On June 2, 2017, the four came to the stall at 10 pm. They demanded a contribution of ₹3,000 for Eid and a monthly payment of ₹2,000. They also threatened the stall owner with a sickle and told him that they would poison the food items. An FIR of extortion was registered against them and action was taken against them under MCOCA.

 

During the trial, Public Prosecutor Vijay Fargade demanded the strictest punishment for the accused. The court has sentenced them for trying to extort money, hatching a conspiracy and issuing threats. The investigation in the case was carried out by the then ACP Bajirao Mohite.
