Two days’ International Live Urethroplasty workshop at ‘UroKul’, Kulkarni Uro Surgery Institute on 18-19 March

Dr. Jyotsna Kulkarni, First Female and Second Surgeon to perform Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy in India, Dr. Pankaj Joshi, Urologist & Dr. Rajesh Deshpande, President of Baner-Balewadi Medico’s Association were present at the press conference.
Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni said, “For accident victims with a fractured pelvis and ruptured urethra the two ends of the torn urethra should be joined together. For longer strictures, a piece from the cheek is used to enlarge the narrow urethra. Such kind of 14-16 surgeries on male and female urethral stricture will be demonstrated at the live Urethroplasty workshop.”
“Traditional treatment includes cutting the strictures with an endoscopic knife as regular dilation. Patients born with Hypospadias where the tip of the urine opens below the normal site will be offered the most modern treatment. These advancements have made the patient’s life smoother,” he added.
Further, he mentioned that, patients with erectile dysfunction will be treated with a 3-piece penile prosthesis. At the push of a button, one can get an erection at will. Patients who leak urine after prostate cancer treatment will be cured by an artificial sphincter to control urine. Some patients with recto-urethral fistula who pass urine through the rectum after surgery and radiotherapy will be repaired by world-famous experts.
