FIR registered against farmer for cultivating opium in Khed taluka

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Crime News | Although there is a ban on cultivation of opium, an incident of a farmer cultivating opium at Thigalsthal village in Khed taluka has come to light. The police took action after they came to know about the incident. The police have seized opium trees worth ₹1 lakh and have registered an FIR against the farmer. (Pune Crime News)

 

The accused has been identified as Subhash Gulab Thigle, a resident of Thigalsthal, Rajguru Nagar, Khed taluka, Pune district. Thigle had cultivated opium near the canal of Chasakman dam in Thigalsthal village near Rajguru Nagar. There is a ban on opium cultivation. Senior PI Rajkumar Kendre of Khed police station received information about the cultivation of opium and a team of police officials raided the place. Thigle had also cultivated onion and garlic in his field.

 

It came to light that Thigle had cultivated opium as an intercrop. The opium trees had grown. The police and a team of the revenue department seized 61 kg opium trees. The price of the trees is ₹1 lakh. The action was taken by a team of police officials including senior PI Rajkumar Kendre, PSI Bharat Bhosale, constable Shankar Bhavari, Santosh Gholap, Santosh More and Pravin Gengje.
