FICCI Ladies Organisation- FLO Pune facilitates Elderly Care training for Domestic workers and Needy Women

Pune: NP NEWS 24 – With an increasing number of Nuclear families, all working individuals and families migrating abroad for their professions, a need for caregivers for the elderly at homes have been created.

Recognizing this growing demand, FicciFLO through its skilling initiative just launched a very unique tie-up with the Symbiosis Skills and Open University in Pune, for Elderly Care training for beneficiaries of Domestic Workers Sector Skills Council.

This 200+ hrs course will train the Candidates in basic health care, hygiene, sanitation, housekeeping, nutrition all keeping in mind the need of the elderly at Homes.

An all India forum for women, FLO represents over 5000 women entrepreneurs and professionals through its 15 Chapters.

For the signing of this MOU, PRO Chancellor Swati Mujumdar and Chancellor Dr. S B Mujumdar of Symbiosis International University were present along with the CEO of Domestic Workers Skill Sector Council Maj General Sabharwal.

FLO was represented by Chairperson Sangeeta Lalwani, Vice Chair Christine Khalsa and Skilling, and Committee members. Value-add was the presence of onboard Employment Agencies who have assured opportunities of placement to beneficiaries after completing training at SSOU.

Mujumdar highlighted the promising prospects of employment not just in India but even in countries with a larger population of elderly citizens.

“Maj Gen Sabharwal noted that is indeed a unique partnership of a Govt organization, Symbiosis Skills and Open University as training partners and Ficci Ladies Organisation coming together to provide livelihood and better prospects to domestic workers this fulfilling the demand for skilled elderly caregivers.”

Swati Mujumdar shared how they as a training partner can give an edge to the beneficiaries by value adding with Soft skill training, personal grooming and presentation along with the curriculum put down by the DWSSC.

Sangeeta Lalwani Chairperson FLO Pune enthused over the tie up being a long term one and branching out to cover other areas of Skilling for women over the coming years.
