Aaryans Group to set up 1200 megawatt solar thermal power plant in Maharashtra

Newly formed city based Aaryans Group is foraying in green energy segment by setting up a first of its kind Solar Thermal Power Plant at Taluka Malshiras, District Solapur in Maharashtra. An announcement to this effect was made by Smita Shitole, Managing Director of the group during a Press Conference held in the city today. Apart from the green energy segment she also announced group’s foray in the media and entertainment segment. Mukund Jagtap, Swapnali Jagtap, Director of the Group and Ajay Jagtap were also present on the occasion along with Manohar Jagtap, Group CEO.

While sharing the details of the project Manohar Jagtap said, “This first of its kind Solar Thermal Power Plant in the state shall be set up by our group company Kanishka Enterprises Private Limited and its development shall be spread across 3 different phases.”

“When all the 3 phases become operational the plant would have the capacity to generate 1200 megawatts of solar power. Work for the 1st phase shall begin in the month of October this year and is likely to get completed within a year. The first phase would have capacity to generate 300 megawatt of solar power and investments to the tune of Rs.300Cr shall be made in the first phase. UK and Singaporebased Mittal Inc shall be making this investment in the project”, he added.

Apart from the Solar Power generation, which will be sold and distributed as per the state Government policies, an educational complex shall also be set up at the plant premises. This educational complex will run short term courses in solar energy for the science students.

The Media vertical of the group shall be run under 2 of its group companies Mayboli Entertainment Private Limited and Swarang Entertainment Private Limited. Primarily it will have 3 channels including Janvruttant – 24 hours Marathi News Channel, Swarang – a general entertainment channel and DreamzBox – an educational channel that will have content related to SSC pattern of schooling.

The web portals of these channels were launched at the hands of Mukund Jagtap during the Press Conference today. The satellite transmission of these channels shall begin by the end of October. Initially, the news and entertainment channels would be free to air. The educational channel will be subscription based. Aryans Group will also open broadcasting engineering courses in the city, said Jagtap.

The group is planning to invest about Rs.250Cr in the media business over next couple of years. Investments worth Rs.100Cr are being made immediately to create necessary infrastructure for all the channels mentioned above.

In the near future, the Group also has plans to get into sugar industry and infrastructure segment.
