Around 29 bodies out of 33 bodies has been manage to be traces by the NDRF jawan in the rescue operation by Sunday morning has been carrier at the Mahabaleshwar Poladpur road accident which took place on Saturday after the mini bus carrying 34 passengers fell into the 800-feet deep valley.

32 employees of Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth including two drivers are feared dead. Police have found 18 dead bodied were manage to get by Saturday and later due to rains and dense forest the operation was stop by the NDRF team and on Sunday around 7 am along with sniffer dogs help, GPRS technical support the team is struggling at all fronts to trace the bodies.

On Saturday around 6.30 am 32 staffers of Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth were on way to Rahuri based Agricultural college for study tour on wheat research

The bus fell into a 800-ft deep valley in Ambenali Ghat near Poladpur and was stuck at 250ft in tree bushes, connecting Konkan’s western Maharashtra.

As per the reports, all the passengers included men. One of them named Prakash Savant Desai, Assistant agricultural teacher saved his life by jumping out of the bus as soon as he smelled the danger.

As per his statement, “The bus tyre slipped in a pile of mud on the left side of the road. I jumped out of the bus and made it to the road by climbing the hill. An anonymous person handed his phone to me and left. I made a call to Vidyapeeth and police.”

Prakash Savant Desai called the Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth and informed them about the accident. The bus was stuck in the valley at the height of 250-ft.

Chandrasen Pawar, Nayab Tehsildar of Mahad said, “Five dead-bodies have been sent for the post-mortem. Late Vikrant Shinde and Sachin Gimhvanekar’s dead-bodies have been allotted to the families. Relatives of the deceased had gathered on the spot, it is a tragic moment for them and a state of distress has been created.”

Local MLA Bharat Gogavale said, “The place has been confirmed as non-accidental point so there is probability that this accident has occurred because of driver’s mistake. There is information that few dead-bodies were found on trees. All the passengers except one are feared dead in this accident. Rescue operation is going on without any problem as there is no rainfall in this area.”

Dead bodies of all the deceased will be handed over to the families after post-mortem. Those who died included teachers, Ph.D. students and some clerk. There was no one around when this accident took place thus it could not be informed on time.

Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth’s staff and relatives of the deceased had reached the spot.

Pravin Randive, employee of Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth said, “I got call and was informed about the accident. I also had planned to go on this trip but because of weak health, it got cancelled at last moment. They had stopped in Khed for a breakfast. I got a last text message on 9.30am. Even today at around 6.30am, I was asked to join them.”

Pravin is the employee of same department where Prakash Savant Desai is working.Those who had went for this trip included junior and senior clerks, superintendent. Many of them were unmarried. They had planned for this yearly trip just before the day of this accident.
