Pune: Woman Molested and Threatened with Knife in Kondhwa Budruk, Accused Booked

Pune: In a startling incident on Punyadham Road in Kondhwa Budruk, a 30-year-old married woman was subjected to molestation and intimidation by a known acquaintance. The harrowing ordeal unfolded on Saturday (17) between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., prompting the Kondhwa police to swiftly register a case against the perpetrator.

The victim, a resident of Bibvewadi, filed a formal complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station on Sunday (18), detailing the appalling encounter. Identified as Amit Appaso Chavan (32), a resident of Undri, Pune, the accused now faces charges under IPC sections 354, 354A, and 506(2).

According to police reports, the accused and the complainant had previously had a dispute, due to which the accused had filed a police complaint against him. The altercation reached a distressing crescendo when, around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, the accused confronted the woman while she waited for her mother-in-law. In a brazen display of vulgarism, he forcibly pulled her towards him, subjecting her to unwanted advances and outraging her modesty.

Furthermore, the situation took a sinister turn as the accused brandished a knife, menacingly threatening the victim to retract the police complaint lodged against him. His chilling ultimatum included dire consequences for both her and her husband if she dared to defy his demands. In a spine-chilling assertion, he vowed to hunt her down and take her life if she was found somewhere alone.

The accused’s rampage extended beyond verbal threats as he wreaked havoc in the vicinity, vandalising small tree pots and plant plots. Assistant Police Inspector Amit Shete of the Kondhwa Police Station is leading the ongoing investigation into the case.
