Pune Crime News | woman lost Rs 4 Lakh after downloading app on instructions of cyber thief
Pune: NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime News | Canceling the flight tickets has become very expensive for a woman in Pune. The cyber thief instructed the woman to download the app and later committed a financial fraud by withdrawing Rs. 4.25 Lakh from her bank account. The incident took place on June 8 at 11 am. In this matter, Sonam Ravindra Gadkari (35) a resident of Bibvewadi-Kondhwa Road in Pune has filed a complaint at Market Yard Police Station. Police have registered a case against Rajesh Kumar using the number 96284xxxxx under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 419, 420, 34 along with 66(D) of IT Act.
The complainant had booked two Go First Airline tickets through Ixigo App. The cyber thief contacted the complainant’s mobile number and said that the flight tickets have been cancelled and they are refunding Rs 13,000. The cyber thief later asked the woman to download the app Rustdesk from Playstore. Accordingly, she downloaded the app. After that, the cyber thief took the bank details of the woman and withdrew Rs 4.25 lakh from her bank account.
After realising that she has been cheated Gadkari rushed to the Pune Cyber police station and filed a complaint.
The Cyber police station has transferred the case to Market Yard Police Station.
Further investigation is being conducted by police inspector Shinde.
