Pune Lok Sabha bypoll: Names of five candidates from BJP and two from Congress doing rounds
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Lok Sabha Bypoll Election | BJP’s MP Girish Bapat passed away recently. There is a likelihood of a byelection for Pune Lok Sabha constituency. Hence, everyone’s watching to whom the BJP will give the ticket to contest the bypoll. The names of five BJP candidates are doing the rounds. (Pune Lok Sabha Bypoll Election)
Maximum lobbying is being seen in BJP for the bypoll. The names of Girish Bapat’s daughter-in-law Swarda Bapat, former mayor Murlidhar Mohol, state unit chief Sanjay Kakade, city unit chief Jagdish Mulik and MLa Siddharth Shirole. An overenthusiastic supporter of Mulik had put up a banner which states that Mulik was a future MP. If the bypoll is held, the names of Arvind Shinde and Mohan Joshi are doing the rounds as likely Congress candidates. Hence, Puneites are eagerly watching who will get the ticket from BJP and Congress.
The Kasba Peth bypoll was held due to the demise of BJP MA Mukta Tilak and the BJP had to face defeat in the bypoll. There was a discussion that the defeat was due to the denial of a ticket to a member of the Tilak family. Hence, it is being said that the BJP will be careful about offering the ticket. Since the BJP had refused to give ticket to a member of the Tilak family, there was a turmoil in the city’s political scenario. Many people had criticised the BJP for denying ticket to a member of Tilak family. Sanjay Kakade had said that the party had made a mistake while giving the ticket. Hence, it is being speculated that the BJP will give the ticket to a person from Bapat family.
Girish Bapat’s son Gaurav Bapat is not interested in politics. However, his wife Swarada Bapat has experience of politics. Before marriage, she was a corporator in Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation. She has worked in ABVP for many years. From the time of 2019 Lok Sabha poll, she is active in politics of the city. When Bapat was being treated in a hospital, she was given the task of looking after the constituency and she successfully did it. Hence, there is an increasing possibility of Swarada Bapat being given the ticket by the BJP. If the ticket is given to Swarada Bapat, there is a likelihood that the election may be held without a contest.
