Earlier, the stamps could be purchased on the applicant’s behalf by a relative or a friend. However, Additional Controller of Stamps Satish Deshmukh had issued orders that from April 1, the applicant will have to be personally present to buy the stamp paper. The implementation started from April 3. However, the bar associations strongly opposed this condition and boycotted the purchase of the stamp papers. Hence, on April 3, no one purchased the stamp papers. The citizens had also expressed their ire about the new condition.
Hence, the stamp sellers had started facing various problems and the buyers were getting inconvenienced. Women, senior citizens and the differently-abled were facing problems while purchasing the stamp papers. Hence, taking note of these issues, Shravan Hardikar stayed the earlier decision. Hence, the stamp papers can be purchased as per the earlier system.
