Now, you don’t need witnesses for property registration

NPnews24 Online Pune: Now, there is a new process for property registration in Maharashtra. The State government will verify Aadhaar credentials of property exchangers, instead of asking them to bring two witnesses during the registration process of the property.

The officials of the Stamps and Registration Department informed that earlier, property buyers had two bring two witnesses and submit thumb prints with the department. Now, they do not have to go through such a tedious process.

“The will also reduce the rush at the registrar’s office,” the officials said.  Every day, around 8,000 documents are registered in Maharashtra.

The Maharashtra government will make sure that high-speed internet and other infrastructure required for Aadhaar verification is provided to the registrars’ offices across the State. The State government has already introduced online registration for leaves and licences.
