Pune: BJP Leader Ganesh Bidkar Files Police Complaint Over Threatening Extortion Call

Pune : The former corporator of Pune Municipal Corporation and the BJP leader Ganesh Bidkar received a call demanding an extortion of Rs 25 lakh. On the received call, the caller threatened Bidkar with ruining his political career if demands of extortion were not met. In this regard, Ganesh Bidkar promptly filed a police complaint on Monday with the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Crime Branch.

On Sunday, May 6, Bidkar received a call from an unknown individual in which the caller demanded a ransom of Rs 25 lakh from Bidkar. Furthermore, the caller also threatened to end his political career if the ransom was not paid and also threatened to circulate his video on social media with the intention of tarnishing his image.

After that, Bidkar immediately filed a complaint with the Anti-Extortion Squad of the Crime Branch. From the preliminary investigation, police found that the number from which Bidkar received a threat is an international number. Accordingly, the crime branch has intensified the pace of the investigation in this case.

Bidkar is currently busy campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Muralidhar Mohol in the Pune Lok Sabha constituency. Since it came to light that Bidkar was threatened while he was busy campaigning, there has been a stir in political circles.

Surprisingly, earlier also, a similar incident of threatening Bidkar took place. At that time, the crime branch had arrested the accused.
