npnews24 –  Pune : It did not rain in many parts of the State in the past few weeks. Average temperatures also went up. Farmers were worried as rain had disappeared for a long time. However, the met department has given good news. The State will receive good rain from today, said the India Meteorological Department. The State, including Konkan, Vidarbha, central Maharashtra and Marathwada, will get widespread rain.

It will rain in Marathwada, south Konkan, central Maharashtra and some districts of north Konkan and Pune. This indicates revival of the monsoon in the State. The met department has issued a yellow alert in the entire State, barring some districts in north Maharashtra and north Konkan. An orange alert has been issued in some districts in Konkan on 9th, 10th and 11th July. Konkan will get heavy to very heavy rain during these three days. Orange alert is issued in Sindhudurg on July 9, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri on July 10 and Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur districts on july 11. Heavy rain is likely on these days. Lightning, along with gusty winds, is predicted. Citizens have been asked to remain alert.

A low pressure area is present in Bay of Bengal. This has revived the monsoon activity in the State. Another low pressure area is located along the coastal area of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. This has activated south-west seasonal winds. The met office has predicted good rain in the State in the coming days. This is likely to lessen farmers’ worry.
