Man robbed off car near Balewadi on highway

A 27-year-old driver was beaten up and robbed of cash as well as his car while he was waiting for passengers to Mumbai at the Balewadi octroi naka on Thursday early morning.
Based on complaint from Vicky Ramesh Lonkar, a resident of Thergaon, Chatushrungi police station under Pune city police has booked a case of robbery against four youths.

According to police, Lonkar drives his Wagon car and has employed it with Ola/Uber. He also takes passengers from Pune-Mumbai. Around 4.30 am on Thursday, he was waiting for passengers at the Balewadi naka. There was no passengers and he was waiting. He was sitting in the car when four youths reached there and demanded money from him. Initially he gave Rs 100 but they demanded Rs 500 more. When he objected they beat him up and took away his phone and snatched his car key after threatening him with knife. Later two accused drove away his car towards Baner.

Meanwhile, Lonkar fled from there fearing for his life and hid himself in the parking area of an institute. The two accused reached there chasing him on bike but they left as they could not find Lonkar. He noted down the registration of their Pulsar motorcycle.

Police booked the accused persons for offences under sections 392 (robbery), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
