Bhumi Abhilekh officer caught with Rs 1 lakh bribe

The officials from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Pune unit, have nabbed a land tax assessor from the land records department and his accomplice while accepting Rs one lakh bribe.

49-year-old person had approached the ACB as the accused officer was allegedly demanding Rs seven lakhs bribe to measure his land and submit the records in court, where the land is under litigation.

The arrested officer has been identified as Sanjay Babanrao Shinde (50) from land records office (Haveli) and a resident of Yerwada. His accomplice Vikas Sarjerao Waghmare (42) from Dehugaon, a private person, was also arrested as he accepted the bribe money.

The ACB sleuths verified the demand by Shinde and laid a trap. Waghmare was caught red-handed while accepting the first instalment of Rs one lakh on Thursday.

Superintendent of Police (ACB-Pune range) Sandip Diwan, DySP Suhas Nadgouda supervised the investigation team which included police inspectors Archana Bodade, Surekha Gharge and their team members.
