FIR filed against talathi and kotwal for demanding bribe of Rs 942 to provide documents sought under RTI

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –Pune ACB Trap | According to the State Information Commission (SIC) orders it is obligatory upon the authorities to provide the requested documents free of charge under the Right to Information (RTI). Talathi Sanjay Baburao Date and kotwal Amit Bhandalkar from Urwade village in Mulshi taluka demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000. After a compromise, they agreed to accept a bribe of Rs 942. The Pune Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed a case against Date and Bhandalkar. Date has been arrested. (Pune ACB Trap)

 

A 67-year-old person complained to the Pune ACB. The complainant had sought the documents under the RTI. But talathi Sanjay Date demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant. He later settled for Rs 942.

 

When verified by Pune Unit on December 30, 2022 and January 2, 2023, it was found that talathi Date had demanded a bribe of Rs 942 to hand over the documents. Kotwal Amit Bhandalkar supported the demand.

 

Accordingly, a case has been registered against both of them under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Paud Police Station. Talathi Sanjay Date has been arrested. DySP Kranti Pawar is conducting further investigation.

 

The action was taken by a team of Pune Anti-Corruption Department under the guidance of Anti-Corruption Department SP Amol Tambe and Addl SP Suraj Gurav.
